Good bye monkey!!!
Finally, after a long month, the Ingersoll Express Searles Motor Products novice rep removed the monkey from their collective backs and took a win.  On Thursday, December 23, the Express hosted the Port Dover Pirates.  The game started off with excellent pressure by the Express on the Dover netminder, but it seemed that the "monkey" was doing it's best to keep the puck out of the back of the net.  It also seemed to be helping Port Dover out, who quickly built a 3-0 lead.

The Express did not give up though, and continued their pressure.  Finally, midway through the second period, Brennan Rupert broke out of the goal scoring drought and netted one for Ingersoll.  Now they were on the board.  A short while later, Aidan Berto continued pressure on a puck that was in the goaltender, but not out of sight.  He was able to bang the puck through the goalie's legs, and pulled Ingersoll within one going into the third period.
Ingersoll was smelling comeback, and this seemed to light a little bit of a fire under them.  On a 2-1 rush, Rupert threw a pass across to a streaking Parker Hodgson, who deked in and put the tying goal into the net.  A short time later, after a little scramble in front of the Port Dover net, Ethan Emerson roofed a nice backhand shot to put Ingersoll into the lead 4-3.  With time ticking off the clock, the Port Dover coaches chose to pull their goalie and threw a tremendous amount of forechecking pressure on the Ingersoll team.  With some great defensive play and timely saves by Gabe Robinson, the score remained that way, and the Express put a check in the win column as a fitting Christmas gift for all their fans who were in attendance to watch the game.
The kids have some time off through the Christmas break, and next face action on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 3:10 pm in Glanbrook.
Merry Christmas everyone!!
