Louie’s Pizza & Pasta Bantams Win Round One
Louie’s Pizza & Pasta Ingersoll Express Bantam Rep team easily handled the Caledonia Thunder in round one of the OMHA playdowns Jan. 5, 6 and 7 sweeping the series in three straight games with victories of 9-2 ,3-0 and 2-1 scores.
In the opener Jordan Travis picked up five points with three goals and two assists to earn Louie’s player of the game. Linemates Michael Nutt and Jacob Parkhill both had two goal performances as Caledonia could not handle this line. Jesiah Sweetland and Dylan Robinson each tallied once while defenceman Brett Nicholson had a great game chipping in with three helpers.
In the second game the Thunder did a great job of shutting down the Travis line only to have the line of Austin Kielt, Garret Anderson and Ryan Allard come up big with Kielt scoring twice and Allard adding a single. Anderson had a couple of assists while Randy Weatherhead stopped 21 shots to earn the 3-0 win and the shutout. Kevin Hazen, Quintin Pow, Graham Hall and Jake Schneider all played stellar defence.
In the third and final game Michael Hazen had to be sharp in net as a determined Caledonia team needed to win and played a much tougher game but were only able to beat Hazen once on 32 shots. Jacob Parkhill and Michael Nutt scored for Louie’s to give them a 2-1 victory.
This series came on the heels of Ingersoll coming up short in the championship game of the Bantam A Regional Silver Stick bowing out to North London in a close 4-3 loss in the final.
Jesiah Sweetland had put Ingersoll up 3-2 scoring early in the third frame but London came back with two late goals to win the championship. Garret Maier and Graham Hall added the other goals.
