Stars Burn Out, PeeWees Rake Leafs!
After a rough start to this season’s Southern Counties playoffs with a Feb 4 6-0 loss to the Norwich Knighthawks, the Your Financial Partners PeeWee reps rebounded Feb 11 on home ice against the Cayuga Stars.

Ingersoll skated out front early, taking the puck to the Stars’ net while controlling play in their own end.  Adam Dzyngel posted one from the slot sent ahead by Chris Dimmers to make it 1-0 in the first.  At the net in the second, Dakota Lednicky stuffed the rebound from Joel Couse between the goalie’s legs to retake the lead, 2-1.  Daniel Lindsay also took a pass from Joel Couse and found the back of the net to put the Express up by 2.  Still in the second, Dimmers snapped one through the five-hole off passes from Zach Staddon and Thomas Larder working behind the net.  Into the third Lednicky was back for two more.  The first he carried in off the pass from Staddon in the neutral zone, the second he carried up the wing sent ahead by Cole Mayo, both landing  top shelf.  Ingersoll’s Lucas Malchesky provided good coverage in net, fending off the rebounds and demonstrating physical play in his crease for the 6-3 Express win.
Feb 14 the boys faced off against Langton’s Leafs, again on home ice.  Lindsay wasted no time picking it up behind the net from Jeff Couse and bringing it around to notch one early in the first.  Dimmers then carried it in from Staddon in the neutral zone and buried one high in the back of the net to make it 2-1 after one.  Lindsay struck again in the second, lifting one past Langton’s sprawling netminder off helpers from Joel Couse and Jeff Couse.  Mason Schneider potted one from Lednicky at the post, making it 4-1 after two.  Into the third, Joel Couse netted the rebound off of Jeff Couse’s inital shot and Staddon landed a backhand shot off the pass ahead from Dimmers.  Lednicky beat the goalie for the final tally of the night from Larder and Staddon in the dying seconds.  Malchesky gave another great effort in net, helping to secure the team’s 7-3 victory.
Feb 18 Lindsay was out early again, this time against the Six Nations All-Stars, bagging one from Staddon and Mayo.  Larder also caught a pass from the duo to bury one behind the All-Stars’ goaltender and Joel Couse capitalized on good puck movement by Dimmers and Jeff Couse, though Six Nations took the match 5-3.
Feb 21 the team challenged the St. Mary’s Rock in the annual Carmeuse Lime Invitational Tournament.  With some room to skate in the third, Parker Moon drew the goalie over and shot a laser from the wing to just inside the post, unassisted.  Joel Couse then scored on a similar shot from the other side, landing Luke Zegers’ pass just inside the pipe, but the game ended 4-2 St. Mary’s.  Congratulations to the Express’s Cole Mayo who was selected the game’s Most Valuable Player.
Feb 22 playoff action resumed in Aylmer.  Ingersoll worked well to contain the Flames’ offense, incorporating well-positioned defence and backchecking by the forwards.  Zegers chalked up Ingersoll’s first of the night carrying it in over the line and scoring, unassisted.  Joel Couse played one off the boards and hammered it in, with an assist going to Staddon.  Into the third, Dimmers connected with a pass from Staddon fed by Larder behind the net, which was enough for the final to end in a 3-3 draw.
Back at home Feb 25 the PeeWees faced the Delhi Rockets in the last game of round robin play.  Zegers evened the score in the first putting one in from the post off a cross-ice pass from Lednicky, moved up the ice by Mayo, and Lednicky scored late in the third with the helper from Moon, though the game ended 5-2 Rockets.
Mar 11 the boys head to Paris and Mar 13-14 they will take part in the Goderich Lions Club’s 61st Young Canada Week tournament.  Good luck, boys!
