Tillsonburg 4 Anderson Appliance 3
Monday Feb 22, 2010

Anderson Appliance played host to Tillsonburg on Monday night, and it was barn burner. Anderson Appliance came out with a vengeance, and was trying to prove themselves worthy of a championship run. In the earlier season matches, Tillsonburg had 2 strong wins, but Anderson Appliance was ready to challenge.

The beginning of the first saw the Anderson Appliance go on the defensive, and survive an almost 2 minute assault in their own end.  Anderson Appliance goaltender Brodi Carbaugh was unbelievable during the barrage and kept his team on a level playing field. Gritty work at the boards by Nathan Peacock caused a turnover, and a quick pass to the streaking defenceman Camden McDougall, created a great chance that Anderson Appliance would not let slip by, and Anderson Appliance went up by one. Anderson Appliance turned the heat up and brought out an aggressive style to keep Tillsonburg on their heels. David Timleck and Justin Thorne rallied their team with some great mid ice plays and Nolan Costa showed his teams determination, even though he was being badly dogged by Tillsonburg. Half way through the first Leland Loranger made a quick and smart pass up to Camden McDougall who dazzled the Tillsonburg goalie and netted his second of the night. The first period ended with Tillsonburg putting in their first goal of the evening.

Second period action started with Anderson Appliance up by one. Adam Csucs and Donovan Purcell stood strong in their own end and their hustle created some great chances for their team. This hard word payed off on a turnover and Camden McDougall used his extreme speed to earn a hat trick, with his third of the night. Both teams got rough and bared their teeth, which led to Annilese Racicot being hauled down on a breakaway, which went unnoticed by the young referees. Tillsonburg went on to put one more on the board.

The third period was intense and both teams seemed to gain speed, drawing the fans into a frenzy. Back and forth action ensued and the level of play by Anderson Appliance was the best of the year, and proved that they are real contenders. Disappointment loomed however, and bad luck came to the Anderson Appliance team. Tillsonburg put home a go ahead goal, after a frenzied skirmish in the offensive end. As the clock ticked away Anderson Appliance dug deep, and pulled their goalie in their last push for a tie. With six skaters on the ice, Anderson Appliance came close, but eventually ran out of time. Anderson Appliance had the top team worried, and made us believe that they are a genuine contender in their division. Anderson Appliance travels to Tillsonburg on Sunday to have another try at Tillsonburg.
