Carmeuse Lime and Stone Short on Bodies, but not Effort
Ingersoll Peewee #3, Carmeuse Lime and Stone traveled to Port Dover on Friday night to take on the Port Dover Pirates.
The Ingersoll squad was made up of 10 determined players that would not succumb to defeat. There was no score until late in the 1st period when Kenny Moodie was sent in on a breakaway and he fired a hard shot over the blocker of Brett Sullivan. Assists on the Moodie goal went to Brady Soetemans and John Ryan.
Early in the 2nd period Soetemans broke in all alone and fired in a goal of his own unassisted. This put the Ingersoll squad up by 2. Running out of legs the Ingersoll team surrendered 2 unanswered goals from Jake Burcham and Liam Kohli-Barker to knot the game at 2 before Johnathan Agers restored a 1 goal lead on a nifty move in front of the Port Dover net to tuck home his 1st of the year. Assist on the Agers goal went to Jared Campbell.
Early in the 3rd period Dover would pull even once again on a high backhander over a sprawled out Brady Harris from Braeden Sowden. From this point the 2 goalies took over stopping the remaining shots to preserve the 3-3 tie.
Warren McSwiggan played a solid Defensive game for Ingersoll and was awarded Hustler of the Game.
Ingersoll's next game is Tuesday night when the return home to face Tillsonburg.
