Novice Local League Undefeated in '09
Submitted By Kevin Procter on Monday, January 12, 2009

On Monday January 5th Ingersoll Express Novice Local League in their Dairy Queen home Jerseys started off  the second half of their season facing Simcoe.  The two teams were evenly matched.   The shots on net were no match for Dairy Queen's net minder, Joshua Dariano as the first period ended scoreless It wasn't until the near the end of the second period that the first goal was scored by Ingersoll's Cullen Brown.  Assisting Brown was Christian Clifford and Bryden Bomberry.

The third period saw more action with Simcoe putting two in the net in less than thirty seconds of game play to take the lead.  Dairy Queen's Samuel Cull was quick to respond and tie up the game.  Assisting Cull was Derek Neeb.  It was anyone's game until the Jonathen Landsborough tipped one in the net off of Conner Young-Craig and Marcus Medeiros to take the lead and eventually the game.  Final score 3 to 2 in Ingersoll's favour.

Ingersoll Express Novice Local League dressed in their away Anderson Appliance jerseys travelled to Simcoe on Friday January 9th for a rematch.  Taking the ice confidently, Ingersoll's Christian Clifford, on a break away , put one in the net in the first thirty seconds of the game.  The play for most of the game went back and forth between the two teams with both goalies holding their own.  Early in the second period Anderson's Zach Ackert slid one in the net off of Samuel Cull.  This gave Ingersoll a comfortable lead as they headed into the third period.  Anthony Ziraldo played a stellar game in net and gave the team their first shut out.   Ingersoll and Anderson's Appliances should be proud of the good clean sportsmanship exhibited by their team as the took the game 2 to 0.   Upon entering the dressing room to celebrate their victory, it was  Trainer Bill Gillespie-Wilson that coined the phrase " Undefeated in '09."  Along with Gillespie Wilson , the coaching staff of Russell Ziraldo, Kent Craig and Sonny Todd  are pleased with how their team has progressed.  Keep up the good work!
